It’s been a while since I wrote about my daily (previously morning) routine, which is fun to reflect on over the years.

My morning starts around 6:30 am, and I usually sleep until about 6:45 am.

  1. make my bed
  2. pick out clothes
  3. quick shower
  4. put in my contacts, brush my teeth, comb my hair, and get dressed
  5. pour some coffee and milk for my daughter (she’s two)
  6. make sure my son is up (he’s six), and tell him the weather so he knows how to dress at 7 am
  7. get my daughter up and get her dressed
  8. help my daughter with her teeth and both kids with their hair
  9. hang out and some iPad time (20 to 30 minutes)
  10. five-minute warning goes off (young kids do well with timers) at 7:40 am
  11. put our tablets up, put on shoes, feed the dog, put on jackets or coats, get backpacks, and load the kids in the car at 7:45 am
  12. drop my son off at school
  13. drop my daughter off at preschool
  14. drive to the office or back home
  15. check email, social media, and see what’s on deck for the day
  16. catch up on email or start client work at 8:30 am
  17. post my daily REVSYS standup update on Slack at 9 am
  18. twice a week, client standup meeting at 9:30 am,
  19. grab or make more coffee around 9:30 am,
  20. order lunch or make lunch plans at 11 am
  21. pick up lunch and work on something over lunch
  22. more client work at 12 pm or 12:30 pm
  23. head home to see my family at 4:30 pm or 5 pm,
  24. make dinner and eat between 5:15 pm and 6 pm
  25. family time and get the kids ready for the next day
  26. daughter’s bedtime at 6 pm
  27. son’s bedtime at 8 pm
  28. watch sports, stream something (normally Netflix), and I’ll work on a side project or occasionally client work
  29. go to bed around 11 pm or midnight
